disclaimer

I am a liberal, so don't take the following the wrong way.

If I were to start a cereal company, I would call my cereal "Home-O's"

(insert drum roll here)

It's funny how people (comedians, to be precise) get away with jokes like those. I've heard racist things that ALMOST cross the boundary from those guys, but something I've noticed is that I've heard similar things come out of the mouths of my liberal friends as well.

And I laugh my ass off.

The reason I laugh is because I consider that stuff to be satire. Obviously it's wrong to say what they say, but what they're doing is showing you how ridiculous it makes you sound if you do it too (the only difference is comedians get payed).

Admittedly, we liberals have become so caught up on satire that we've become optimists and are bound to believe that a legitimately racist/prejudice remark is...satire. Why?

BECAUSE ITS FLAT OUT STUPID. and stupidity is funny.

Boondocks PERFECTLY captures the satire.

I don't like to quote people, but before I read this quote, I would have taken a paragraph to tell you following, so lets save us both some time:

"The purpose of comedy is to correct the vices of men." - Moliere

note: you can be liberal when it comes to racial matters and conservative on others, in other words, you are free to laugh at this if you are conservative (or hate me because i'm categorizing people) tee hee.

(i probably shouldn't have written this)

But ultimately, the ideals that conservatives and democrats have are so radically different that it seems stupid to them when they hear an opposing idea, and thus they laugh.

We should all just laugh at each other until the world is at peace.

*i'm sure that the last 3 paragraphs make no sense. consider this whole blog an outline for something i might expand on later.
